Reading for the week of May 25

8 of Swords is another intense card this week. A butterfly in a cocoon is surrounded by swords, protected by the cocoon but danger is just outside. In the Rider Waite Smith deck, this card shows a blindfolded figure almost completely surrounded by swords. It is the "almost" here that is important. Things can look dire but almost always there is a way through and often it is right where you aren't looking. The 8 of Swords reminds us that we are sometimes our own worst enemy. Often this card appears when you have let you "inner saboteur" win, to quote Rupaul. Ru is often sharing wisdom with the queens on Drag Race telling them to tell the negative voice in their heads to shut up and let their beauty shine through. That's what this card is saying. Swords can often be melodramatic, taking things to the very extreme just to get the point across. You probably are not surrounded by swords this week, but things might seem prickly. Just remember to breathe and open your eyes. The solution is most likely right there.

Deck: Wild Unknown by Kim Krans. I chose this deck hoping for a softer reading this week, the cards had different ideas. This was my first deck! I really love the artwork and the deep connection to nature throughout the deck.

See you next week!

Brent
